Truants' Alternative and Optional Education Program (TAOEP) - funding source
• Ages 14-16 (multi-age classroom)
• Students who have been identified as truant - many barriers preventing them from attending the traditional school/home district or alternative school
• One teacher - stay with same teacher all day - no switching classes - goal is to build community and a sense of belonging - reintegrate students into a school environment
• Focus on credit recovery through an accredited online program - individualized for each student and a focus on social-emotional competencies (i.e., coping strategies for anxiety, self-awareness, soft skills, etc.)
• Transitional program - students will not graduate from here but transition back to home district or Futures when they are ready
